We’ve covered much ground since last Monday. The pace won’t lesson anytime soon, so, if you’re behind, make sure to catch up. Check our binder in class for any handouts missed, and check the 521A page for anything posted. That’s your responsibility. Here’s what we’ve read so far:
– What Teens Need Most (Persuasive)
– Stop Pretending Boxing’s a Sport (Persuasive)
– My Canada (Memoir)
– Who Killed Benny Perret? (Persuasive)
– Hockey Dreams (Memoir)
– The Game of Our Lives (Narrative)
We’ll tidy up some lose ends this week, and your unit evaluation will be late next week. More on that to follow.
We’ll be in the lab on Wednesday and Friday of this week to begin work on your conventions project presentations. Use that time wisely.
We’ve also covered a lot of ground this week; our pace will only get faster, so make sure that you’re caught up on all your work. Missing work? Check the binder in class for any missing handouts, or the blog right here. It’s your responsibility.
Our short story unit will be wrapped up by the end of next week. You will have an in-class literary essay to write. More on that to follow. Here are the works covered to date:
– Forget Prince Charming
– Glory In The Flower
– The King of the Raft
– Saturday Climbing
We’ll be in the lab on Thursday and Friday. Those will be work periods for your conventions project/presentations. Use your time wisely. We’ll read The Singing Silence, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and The Boat. Oh, and we’ll also do a silent Socratic Seminar (Sounds fun, huh?) in the next few days. We’ll be ready to go after that.
Enjoy your evening,
